In the middle of protests against the movie Vishwaroopam which still continues and objections over a song in the movie David which thankfully has been settled comes another controversy. The recently released movie Race 2 posters features verses from the Quran which should not have been there in the poster leading to Muslim outrage.
It seems that it is becoming a common phenomenon for movie makers to play with Muslim sentiments, give rise to a controversy and and then gain some publicity.
Whats worrying is that the movie directors or anybody behind it simply says, “Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt sentiments of any religion” and its over. The person responsible for it gets away and we see the same thing repeating after some days.
The Muslims have been very peaceful and democratic on this matter and have used no violent means.
Muslim groups on Tuesday protested against posters of just-released film Race 2 which, they claimed, featured verses from the Quran. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, the largest of Sunni clerics in India, urged PM Manmohan Singh to stop their publication and display.
In a letter to PM, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind general secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani said the posters have angered Muslims who protested in several places in Kolkata.
"It appears that certain anti-social elements have taken upon themselves to disturb communal harmony and peace by inciting religious passion... it is the duty of the authorities to curb such publications as a preventive measure," Madani wrote to the PM.
