Vishwaroopam banned by Tamil Nadu after protests by Muslims

After concern shown by Muslim organisations and protests by Indian Muslims Tamil Nadu government finally woke up and banned screening of 'Vishwaroopam' for 2 weeks. The decision is welcomed by Muslim community at this juncture.

The district collectors and police chiefs across Tamil Nadu have been asked to issue necessary orders for implementing the ban.

The decision came after representatives of 24 Muslim organizations and political parties, under the banner of 'Federation of Muslim Organisations', met home secretary R Rajagopal at the secretariat on Wednesday. The film is aimed at tarnishing Islam and Muslims.

Muslim outfits here have decided to hold siege of all five theatres where Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam is set be screened on Friday and rightly so. The movie shows Muslim community in negative light and depicts Muslims as terrorists.
